Mark was the son of William Martin McKee and Thursey Jane Huff.
Census records show McKee taught in the public schools from at least 1910 to 1930.
A Methodist, he is credited with writing some 300 songs and hymns. His Singing for Jesus appeared in Requested Songs New and Old, by James Ferrill and James Thomas (Fort Worth, Texas: Quartet Music, 1932).
He was secretary of the Southwest Montague County [Texas] Singing Convention for 17 years.
