Died: 1939, New Hampshire. Census records show him in Grafton, New Hampshire, in 1930.
McWhood received his early education in Newark, New Jersey.
He graduated from Columbia University, New York City, in 1893, continuing there until 1898 as a graduate student and fellow in psychology, studying under McDowell. From 1897 he assisted McDowell, and in 1904–10 was an adjunct professor.
Later, McWhood taught at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York (1902–07); Drew Theological Seminary, Madison, New Jersey (1907–16); the National Park Seminary, Washington, DC (1910–13); and Newark High School (1913–18). In 1918, he became a professor at Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire.
He also conducted choruses, orchestras, and operatic performances.
McWhood’s compositions include cantatas, a light opera, and many songs and instrumental pieces.
