Marian was the daughter of Stephen Longfellow and Marianne Preble Fuller, and niece of poet Henry Longfellow and hymnist Samuel Longfellow. She married twice, to William Francis Morris of Boston (May 9, 1876), and Michael F. O’Donoghue.
She spent her girlhood, and did her first writing, in Brookline, Massachusetts.
She is remembered as a poet, lecturer, and translator.
