Muir came to Christ at a meet­ing led by Don­ald Mun­ro and John Smith in Ham­il­ton, On­tar­io, in 1875.

He moved to De­troit in 1881, and be­came an ac­tive ev­an­gel­ist through­out Mi­chi­gan.
