Biography

Ora was the son of Ab­sa­lom L. New­lin and Per­ne­tha Sow­ers, and hus­band of Le­na Mae Schuetz (or Sheets, sour­ces va­ry).

The 1880 cen­sus shows him in Grove, Jas­per Coun­ty, Il­li­nois. Co­py­right re­cords in­di­cate he was liv­ing in Win­on­a Lake, In­di­ana, in 1918.

At the time of his death, he was pas­tor of the San Ma­teo Pres­by­ter­ian Church. A 1916 article in the Fort Wayne Sen­ti­nel des­cribed him as an ev­an­gel­ist of na­tion­al re­pu­ta­tion.
