Biography

Mabel was the wife of min­is­ter Clay­ton Clair Mc­Caw (mar­ried 1948, wi­dowed 1978).

An or­dained Dis­ci­ples of Christ min­is­ter, she was edu­cat­ed at Il­li­nois Wes­ley­an Uni­vers­ity (BS 1924) and Yale Di­vin­ity School (MA 1926).

She served as Di­rect­or of Re­li­gious Edu­ca­tion, Bloom­ing­ton, Il­li­nois (1928-1936); and Na­tion­al Di­rect­or of Child­ren’s Work, Unit­ed Christ­ian Mis­sion­ary So­ci­ety, In­di­ana­po­lis, In­di­ana (1936-1948).

Works

She wrote 19 child­ren’s books, ma­ny child­ren’s songs, and a num­ber of hymns.
