Mabel was the wife of minister Clayton Clair McCaw (married 1948, widowed 1978).
An ordained Disciples of Christ minister, she was educated at Illinois Wesleyan University (BS 1924) and Yale Divinity School (MA 1926).
She served as Director of Religious Education, Bloomington, Illinois (1928-1936); and National Director of Children’s Work, United Christian Missionary Society, Indianapolis, Indiana (1936-1948).
She wrote 19 children’s books, many children’s songs, and a number of hymns.
