Son of a farmer and smith, Orheim came to Christ in 1900. He wanted to study theology, but eye problems (leading to later blindness) prevented this.
Despite his handicap, he became a famous lay preacher, author and singer, and was well known for his glass music.
His wife Maria followed him in death by only a few hours.
He edited 13 poetry collections and one music collection, wrote about a thousand hymns and spiritual songs, and composed some 200 melodies.
