Biography

Pearsall prac­ticed law un­til 1825, when he suf­fered a stroke.

He then went to Mainz, Ger­ma­ny, to stu­dy mu­sic un­der Jo­seph Pa­nny. He lived most of the rest of his life out­side Bri­tain, ev­en sell­ing his fa­mi­ly es­tate at Wills­bridge, Glou­ces­ter­shire. He lived in Karls­ruhe, Ger­ma­ny, for a while, but spent the last years of his life at War­ten­see Castle, Swit­zer­land, on the shores of Lake Con­stance.

He is best re­mem­bered for his part songs, or­ches­tral works, an­thems, ser­vic­es, ma­dri­gals, mu­sic­al trea­tis­es, and ed­it­ing of a Ca­tho­lic hym­nal.
