Copyright re­cords in­di­cate she was in Lit­tle Rock, Ar­kan­sas, in 1917. The De­cem­ber 22, 1917, is­sue of the Broad Ax, Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois, page 12, states she was teach­ing school in Rus­sell­ville, Ar­kan­sas, that year.

By the 1920s, she was mu­sic di­rect­or at Book­er T. Wash­ing­ton High School, Tul­sa, Ok­la­ho­ma.

She helped ed­it the 1924 Bap­tist Stand­ard Hym­nal.
