Born: 1846, Penn­syl­van­ia.

Died: June 4, 1888, Rock­dale, Tex­as. Pierce and his wife and two child­ren died in a fire at the Mun­dine Ho­tel.

Buried: Em­ma­nu­el Me­tho­dist Epis­co­pal Ce­me­te­ry, Penns Grove, New Jer­sey.

Biography

Pemberton was the son of Charles C. Pierce and Ell­en L. Pierce, and hus­band of Re­bec­ca Ma­til­da Cur­ri­den.

During the Am­eri­can ci­vil war, he served in Com­pa­ny C, 24th New Jer­sey In­fant­ry, as a mu­si­cian, and in Com­pa­ny K, 2nd New Jer­sey Cav­al­ry.

He was a well known com­pos­er, and at the time of his death he rep­re­sent­ed Zieg­ler & Com­pa­ny of Phi­la­del­phia.
