Biography

Pond was a pi­ano mak­er in Al­ba­ny, New York by 1820.

In 1832, he moved to New York Ci­ty and joined the Firth bro­thers, and in 1863 be­gan the bu­si­ness known as William A. Pond & Com­pa­ny.

He wrote and com­piled tune mu­sic, es­pe­cial­ly for Sun­day schools, and con­duct­ed the New York Sac­red Mu­sic So­ci­ety and the New York Aca­de­my of Sac­red Mu­sic.
