Maria was the daugh­ter of Miles Pop­ple, vi­car of Wel­ton, Lin­coln­shire (near Hull).

She con­trib­ute­d to Beard’s 1837 Col­lect­ion, and to Uni­ta­ri­an pe­ri­od­ic­als.
