Biography

Ivan was the son of Ste­pan An­to­no­vich Pro­kha­nov and Ag­rip­pi­na Sa­ve­li­ev­na, hus­band of An­na Iva­nov­na, bro­ther of Mo­lo­kan theo­lo­gian Al­ex­an­der Ste­pa­no­vich Pro­kha­nov, fa­ther of bo­tan­ist Ya­ro­slav Iv­ano­vich Pro­kha­nov, and great-un­cle of writ­er Al­ex­an­der An­dre­evich Pro­kha­nov.

In 1909, he found­ed the All Rus­sian Ev­an­gel­ic­al Christ­ian Un­ion in St. Pe­ter­sburg, then served as its pre­si­dent.
