Biography

Purchas was edu­cat­ed at Christ’s Col­lege, Cam­bridge (BA 1844).

He served as cur­ate of Els­worth, Cam­bridge­shire (1851–53); Or­well, Cam­bridge­shire (1856–59); St. Paul’s, Bright­on (1861–66); and as per­pe­tu­al cur­ate of St. James’ Cha­pel, Bright­on (1866).
