Biography

Johann was the fa­ther of Hans Ru­dolf Ranke.

He worked as a teach­er and lec­tur­er, pub­lish­ing works on ear­ly edu­ca­tion. In 1874, he beca­me di­rect­or of the Ob­erl­in­haus in Ba­bel­sberg.

After poor health curtailed his pro­fess­ion­al activity and writ­ing, he re­tired in 1878.
