Edward was the son of Henry Rendall and Eleven Davey.
He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge (BA 1881, MA 1888, MusBac 1894).
He served at Harrow School; Dulwich College (where he became the school’s first full time music master in 1884); and Charterhouse.
He was also housemaster of Orchard House at Dulwich College, and composed school songs for Dulwich College (Pueri Alleyniensis) and the Prior’s Field girls’ school in Godalming, Surrey.
