Daughter of Salvation Army (SA) Brigadier General William J. Richards, Miriam grew up in Java and Korea.
She served at various SA locations, including Chester-Le-Street, the Young People’s Department at the International Headquarters, the Northern Territorial Headquarters in Leeds, the International Training College (1938–44), on Women’s Social Work (1944–55), and as editor of the Home League Exchange (1955–71).
She reached the SA rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and retired in 1971.
