Biography

August was the son of Ernst Hein­rich Rische and Ka­ro­line Lou­isa El­ise Chris­ti­ani. He mar­ried twice: to Ida Volk­en­ing and (af­ter Ida’s death), to her sis­ter Kla­ra Volk­en­ing.

After gra­du­at­ing from the Gym­na­si­um in Min­den, he stu­died in Hal­le and Müns­ter, fin­ish­ing his theo­lo­gic­al ex­am­in­ations in au­tumn 1842 and 1844.

In 1844, Rische be­came vi­car and tu­tor un­der pas­tor Jo­hann Hein­rich Volk­en­ing in Jöl­len­beck.

In 1849, at the re­quest of Lud­wig Feld­ner, Rische be­came In­spect­or of the new­ly found­ed Ev­an­ge­li­cal So­ci­ety for Ger­ma­ny. In 1850m he was ap­point­ed par­ish ad­min­is­trat­or in Bad Lipp­springe, then a pas­tor in Schwink­en­dorf in 1852.

For ten years, Rische wrote for the Sonn­tags­blätt­er in Meck­len­burg.
