Note: Ro­bin­son is in­cor­rect­ly cre­dit­ed as the au­thor of Hark the Song of Ju­bi­lee in Hymns of the Se­cond Com­ing of Our Lord Je­sus Christ, ed­it­ed by Pe­ter P. Bil­horn and Bai­lie Brown (Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois: Bil­horn Bro­thers, 1911) num­ber 112.

Ju­li­an, page 1569, states Hark the Song of Ju­bi­lee was com­posed at the ex­press de­sire of the Lon­don Mis­sion­ary So­ci­ety…and sung at Spa Fields Cha­pel, Lon­don, May 14, 1818.

Hark the Song of Ju­bi­lee was pub­lished in the Ev­an­gel­ic­al Ma­ga­zine, Ju­ly 1818, and in Church Po­et­ry, ed­it­ed by Will­iam A. Muh­len­berg (Phi­la­del­phia, Penn­syl­van­ia: S. Pot­ter, 1823), num­ber 83 (au­thor not giv­en). Lat­er pub­li­ca­tions cre­dit the lyr­ics to James Mont­go­me­ry.
