Homer was the son of Thur­man Hall Ro­de­hea­ver and Fran­ces C. Arm­strong.

He began his career touring with the Bil­ly Sun­day evangelism campaign in the early 20th Century. Afterward, he helped found the Ro­de­hea­ver-Ack­ley Com­pa­ny, a Gospel music publisher which later became the Ro­de­hea­ver Hall-Mack Com­pa­ny. He also founded Rainbow Records, which specialized in Gospel music.

He was inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2003. His works in­clude:
