Born: 1867, Hox­ton, Lon­don. His sur­name at birth was ap­par­ent­ly Pep­per; he changed it lat­er in life for rea­sons un­known.

Died: Jan­ua­ry 16, 1929, Stoke New­ing­ton, Lon­don.

Biography

Russell was edu­cat­ed at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Lon­don (BA, en­gin­eer­ing, 1889; BMus 1894).

He was mu­sic di­rect­or of the Ha­ber­dash­er’s Aske’s Boys’ School in Els­tree, Hert­ford­shire.

He served as or­gan­ist and choir­mas­ter at Ho­ly Tri­ni­ty Church, Hox­ton (1893), and St. Ed­mund’s, Lom­bard Street, Lond­on (1895).
