Biography

John was the son of Hen­ry Ruth­rauff and Ly­dia Ev­er­hard, and hus­band of Sar­ah Ell­en Mor­ris­on.

He was pas­tor of the Eng­lish Ev­an­ge­li­cal Lu­ther­an Church in Cir­cleville, Ohio (1874–76); pre­si­dent of Car­thage Col­lege, Ohio (1895–1900); and pre­si­dent of Wit­tenb­erg Col­lege, Spring­field, Ohio (1900–02).
