Biography

Sampson was a min­is­ter. His hymns ap­peared in the Af­ri­can Me­thod­ist Epis­co­pal Hymn and Tune Book (Phi­la­del­phia, Penn­syl­van­ia: Af­ri­can Me­thod­ist Epis­co­pal Book Con­cern, 1898).

We spe­cu­late he may be James George Samp­son (1847–1904), who is bur­ied in Sum­ter, South Ca­ro­li­na.
