Schnecker was organist at the West Presbyterian Church, New York City, for 32 years, and at the Elberon Memorial Church, Long Branch, New Jersey (1886–1903).
He was said to have been a good friend of American president James Garfield, and played his personal home pipe organ for parties and events at the Garfield estate in Long Branch.
