Biography

Jacob was the son of James Scott and Eu­nice Mack­in­tosh. He mar­ried twice, to Mar­tha E. Scott and Cath­eri­ne Frances Seav­er.

He stu­died at Brown Uni­vers­ity, Pro­vi­dence, Rhode Is­land (gra­du­at­ed in arts 1836), and New­ton Theo­lo­gic­al Col­lege, New­ton, Mas­sa­chu­setts (gra­du­at­ed 1842).

He en­tered the Bap­tist min­is­try in 1842, and served in Pe­ters­burg, Vir­gin­ia; Port­land, Maine; Fall Riv­er, Mas­sa­chu­setts; and Yon­kers, New York.
