Born: February 18, 1872, Urbana, Ohio.
Died: July 18, 1960, Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington, DC.
Maud was the daughter of Frank Sewall and niece of William Gilchrist.
She trained in violin, and was self taught in organ and theory.
She arrived in Washington, DC, when her father, Frank Sewall, became minister of the Church of the Holy City—National Swedenborgian Church on 16th Street. She served as the church’s director-organist for five decades (1897-1847), and is buried there.
Among other accomplishments, she helped found the District of Columbia Chapter, American Guild of Organists.
If you know where to get a good photo of Sewall (head & shoulders, at least 200×300 pixels),
