Biography

Jane was the daugh­ter of James Bell, a Glas­gow ad­vo­cate, and wife of J. Bell Simp­son of Glas­gow (her cou­sin).

She con­trib­ut­ed sev­er­al piec­es to The Ed­in­burgh Li­ter­ary Jour­nal (ed­it­ed by her bro­ther, Hen­ry G. Bell), and lat­er to the Scot­tish Chris­tian Her­ald.
