Elizabeth was the daughter of David Prince and Sophia Blanchard, and wife of Seba Smith (married 1823).
She is remembered as a poet, fiction writer, editor, lecturer, and women’s rights activist. She was also the first woman write an account of climbing Mount Katahdin, the highest mountain in Maine.
