Biography

George was the son of Dr. Smyt­tan of the Bom­bay Me­di­cal Board.

He was edu­cat­ed at Cor­pus Chris­ti Col­lege, Cam­bridge (BA 1845).

He took Ho­ly Or­ders in 1848, and served as rec­tor of Hawks­worth, Nott­ing­ham­shire, Eng­land (1850–59).
