Died: June 30, 1897, at her brother Solomon’s home in Chicago, Illinois.
Buried: LaOtto, Indiana.
Maria was the daughter of Joseph Straub, and sister of Solomon Straub.
In addition to hymns, she wrote temperance songs, such as For Mother’s Sake I Will Refrain and Fight the Battle at the Polls (campaign song of the Prohibition Home Protection Party).
