Biography

Maria was the daug­hter of Ri­chard Phil­ip Golds­wor­thy Tid­de­man, who was per­pe­tu­al cur­ate of North Hink­sey, Berk­shire, be­fore he be­came rec­tor of Fin­gest with Ib­stone, Ox­ford­shire, in 1866.

Maria stu­died mu­sic at Ox­ford Uni­ver­si­ty, and, as of 1881, was listed as a Pro­fess­or of Mu­sic.

She is re­mem­bered as a com­pos­er of tunes, songs, part songs, and an­thems.

She ne­ver mar­ried.
