Henry was the husband of Henrietta Ellen Passingham.
Trembath played the organ at St. John’s, Truro, Cornwall (1862–69), and graduated from New College, Oxford, in 1869.
While at Oxford, he was friends with Frederick Gore-Ouseley and John Stainer. He also studied at the Royal Academy of Music under Sterndale Bennett and Macfarren.
He then served as organist at St. Mary’s, Truro (1869–74), and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists (Honoria Causa) in 1875.
He went on to become organist and choirmaster at St. John’s Church, Isleworth, Middlesex (1874–1907).
