Biography

Francis was the son of Bi­shop Be­ver­ley Dan­dridge Tuck­er and Anna Ma­ria Wash­ing­ton, and hus­band of Ma­ry Golds­bo­rough Laird.

Tucker was edu­cat­ed at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Virginia (BA 1914) and the Pro­test­ant Epis­co­pal Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry in Virg­in­ia (BD 1920, hon­or­ary DD 1944).

He was or­dained a priest in 1920, and was a rec­tor in Law­rence­ville, Vir­gin­ia; George­town, Dis­trict of Co­lum­bia; and Sa­van­nah, Georg­ia.
