Died: September 5, 1798.
Turner received a classical education, and for many years ran a boarding school at Hemel Hempstead, but in 1741 he became pastor of the Baptist church in Reading.
He moved to Abingdon in 1748, and pastored the Baptist church there until his death. He probably received an honorary degree of MA from the Baptist College in Providence, Rhode Island.
