William was the son of Charles Viner and Elizabeth Barber, and husband of Emma Densham.
He studied under Charles Wesley, Jr., and became organist of St. Michael’s Church in Bath around 1810. He also taught music while there.
From 1835–59, he played the organ at St. Mary’s, Penzance.
Viner emigrated to America in 1859.
