Biography

Daniel was the son of Bris­tol bu­si­ness­man Da­ni­el Wait and Mary Ja­go. He mar­ried twice, to Pris­cil­la Mor­gan Thorne (1814, Westbury-on-Trym, north Bris­tol), and Eli­za Wylde (1819, Bur­ring­ton, So­mer­set).

He ma­tri­cu­lat­ed at Uni­ver­si­ty Col­lege, Ox­ford, in 1809, and com­plet­ed his stu­dies at St. John’s Col­lege, Cam­bridge (LLB 1819, LLD 1824).

He served as cur­ate at Whit­church, Puck­le­church (near Bris­tol), and Marsh­field, and in 1819 be­came rec­tor of Blag­don, Som­er­set.

He was known as a writ­er and He­brew schol­ar.
