Born: January 11, 1750, Wetzikon, Zürich Canton, Switzerland.
Died: March 18, 1817.
Walder learned to love music from his pastor in Wetzikon, and later studied composition.
His first melodies were published about 1775, and appeared in many collections from 1779 onward.
Walder turned to politics in 1785. He served as Zürich canton’s Untervogt des Amtes Grüninger, then as Mitglied des Regierungsrats until 1806, Bezirkspräsident until 1814, and finally as Oberrichter.
