Rollin was the son of Obadiah Lorenzo Ward and Caroline Vickroy. He married twice, to Mary Ann Moyer (April 7, 1875, Conemaugh, Pennsylvania) and Augusta L. Semon (June 28, 1911, Port Clinton, Ohio).
Copyright records show Ward, a minister, living in Canton, Ohio, in 1898.
As of 1902, he was head of the Findlay College Conservatory of Music, Findlay, Ohio. He resigned that post around 1904, at which time he was said to be in the Sandusky, Ohio, Conference of the United Brethren in Christ.
In 1925, he was reported to be pastor of the Methodist Protestant Church of Cardington, Ohio, and director of the Conservatory of Music in West Lafayette, Ohio.
