Biography

A fourth ge­ne­ra­tion des­cend­ant of Brit­ish In­di­an ar­my of­fi­cers, Warm­ing­ham lived in Ma­dras (now Chen­nai), Ta­mil Na­du, In­dia, un­til he was 21 years old.

He earned his AB de­gree at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Wis­con­sin (1914); taught phi­lo­so­phy at Bos­ton Uni­ver­si­ty, Bos­ton, Mas­sa­chu­setts; stu­died phi­lo­so­phy and theo­lo­gy at Ox­ford Uni­ver­si­ty; and earned a Doc­tor­ate in Di­vi­ni­ty from Car­roll Col­lege.
