Frederic was the son of physician Frederick Weatherly and Julia Maria Ford, and husband of Miriam Weatherly.
He attended Hereford Cathedral School and Brasenose College, Oxford.
A judge, poet, and lawyer, he is perhaps best remembered as the author of secular lyrics such as Danny Boy, Roses of Picardy, and Up from Somerset.
