Woodman assisted Lowell Mason when Mason first taught in the public schools of Boston, Massachusetts.
He was also a brother-in-law of George Root, and helped Root and Mason with their first Normal Institute in New York in 1853. His son Raymond was an accomplished musician as well.
Woodman eventually moved to Brooklyn, New York, and played the organ at the First Presbyterian Church and Packer Collegiate Institute.
If you know where to get a good photo of Woodman (head & shoulders, at least 200×300 pixels),
