Alleluia! Lord most holy,
In Thy manger throne we hail Thee;
Alleluia! Meek and lowly,
Never shall our worship fail Thee.
Alleluia! Choirs of angels
Sing at midnight hour Thy glory,
To the watchful shepherds telling
From the skies Thy natal story.
Alleluia! Child of Mary,
Low the shepherds bend before Thee;
Alleluia! Eastern monarchs
With their costliest gifts adore Thee.
Alleluia! Still unended
Rings the angel note above;
From our altars sweetly blending
Echoes Earth’s response of love.
Alleluia! Shine the tapers,
Gleams the holly’s burnished spray;
Alleluia! Chant the credo,
Christ, we welcome Thee today.
