How bright and grand, how glo­ri­ous,
The an­gels’ joy­ful song,
When Christ, the Lord vic­to­ri­ous,
From Heav’n to earth came down;
They sweet­ly sang the sto­ry
Of love to all man­kind,
Of peace on earth, and glo­ry
To God most high, di­vine.

The swell­ing chor­us rais­es
The glad, tri­um­phant song;
They harp and sing His prais­es
With hal­le­lu­jahs long;
He comes! He comes with glo­ry!
The Christ from Heav’n ab­ove,
To tell the world the sto­ry
Of His re­deem­ing love.

And ’round His throne so glo­ri­ous,
Chimes in the an­gel throng;
The se­raphs shout, vic­to­ri­ous!
The King of kings is born;
Ye peo­ple, bow be­fore Him,
With songs of one ac­cord,
To praise Him, and ad­ore Him—
The bless­èd Lamb of God.
