Lyrics

illustration

O, study it carefully,
Think of it prayerfully,
Deep in thy heart let its pure precepts dwell;
O, slight not its history,
Ponder its mystery,
None can e’er prize it too fondly or well.

Refrain

O the Bible, blessèd Bible,
God’s truth is revealed in its pages;
It strengthens the young and it comforts the old,
It stands like a rock through the ages.

Accept the glad tidings,
The warnings and chidings,
We find in this volume of heavenly lore;
With faith that’s unfailing,
And love all prevailing,
Rely on its promise of life evermore.

Refrain

With fervent devotion,
And thankful emotion,
Oh, hear the blest welcome, respond to its call;
Life’s purest oblation,
The heart’s adoration,
Bestow on the Savior, who died for us all.

Refrain

This message of love
From the Triune above
To each nation and kindred, and people is giv’n;
The ransomed shall raise
Joyous anthems of praise,
Singing loud hallelujahs on earth and in Heav’n.
