Lyrics

Dear Father, we know not a step of the way;
Without Thee we falter and wander astray;
Be Thou our protector, companion and friend,
And guide Thou our feet till life’s journey shall end.

If sorrow await us, if pain be our share,
O comfort us, Father, and save from despair;
If danger and trial be not far away,
Be Thou our strong tower, our fortress, our stay.

If gladness and peace make our life rich and sweet,
O help us Thy praises with joy to repeat;
O lift Thou upon us the light of Thy face,
And teach us to bless Thee for gifts of Thy grace.

Each day may we walk as with Thee by our side,
To Thee all our longings in secret confide;
Abide with us, Father, by night and by day,
And life shall be holy each step of the way.
