Though ye believe not Me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.
John 10:38
Words: Isaac Watts, Sermons 1721–27, number 30. These words have also been combined with Am I a Soldier of the Cross? and published as a single hymn.
Music: Arlington Thomas A. Arne, 1762. Arranged by Ralph Harrison, 1784 (🔊 pdf nwc).
Do I believe what Jesus saith,
And think His Gospel true?
Lord, make me bold to own my faith,
And practice virtue, too.
Suppress my shame, subdue my fear,
Arm me with heav’nly zeal,
That I may make Thy power appear,
And works of praise fulfill.
If men shall see my virtue shine,
And spread my name abroad,
Thine is the power, the praise is Thine,
My Savior and my God!
Thus when the saints in glory meet,
Their lips proclaim Thy grace;
They cast their honors at Thy feet,
And own their borrowed rays.
