Out of the depths have I cried unto Thee, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice: let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
Psalm 130:1–2
Words: From The Psalter (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: United Presbyterian Board of Publication, 1912), number 364.
Music: Hanford (Sullivan) Arthur S. Sullivan, 1874 (🔊 pdf nwc).
From out the depths I cry to Thee;
O let Thy ear attentive be,
Hear Thou my supplicating plea,
Have mercy, Lord.
If marked by Thee our sin appeared,
Who, Lord, could stand in judgment cleared,
Forgiveness, that Thou mayst be feared,
There is with Thee.
I wait for Thee, my soul doth wait,
Thy Word my hope in every strait;
None watch, O Lord, at morning’s gate
As I for Thee.
O Israel, hope thou in the Lord,
His mercy will thy faith reward,
He full redemption will accord
From all thy sin.
