Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ. Titus 2:13
Words: Joseph M. Hunt, in Shook’s Song Evangelist (Cleveland, Ohio & Chicago, Illinois: S. Brainard’s Sons, 1883), number 63.
If you know Shook’s full name, or where to get a good photo of him or Hunt (head-and-shoulders, at least 200×300 pixels),
Glorious day! when Christ, our Savior,
Will return to take us home
To the land of endless pleasure,
Never more in sin to roam.
Where we’ll dwell in glorious mansions,
By the Savior’s hand prepared;
Where He waits to crown the faithful,
Who have e’er His love declared.
While we watch and wait and wonder
What that heav’nly home will be,
Let us battle for the Master,
Who has gained us entrance, free.
When He comes, we all shall see Him,
And shall hear His words of love,
Bidding us into the glory
Of the heav’nly home above.
