Add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

God’s great power divine now has given us
All we need for life and true godliness,
Through our knowing Him who has callèd us
And for His own glory given promises.
Refrain
He has given us His promises,
Very great and precious promises,
So we’ll be like Him, cleansed from all past sin.
Yes, our God has given us His promises.
To your faith add goodness and knowledge true,
Then add self-control, perseverance, too.
Then add godliness, kindness, then add, too,
Love to all, confirming God’s great promises.
Refrain
If you have these traits in increasing store,
They will keep you from unproductive lore.
You’ll effective be knowing Christ our Lord,
Because God has given us His promises.
Refrain
Any person lacking these qualities
Is nearsighted, blind, and he does not see.
He’s forgotten he from his sin is free
And that God has given us His promises.
Refrain
So be eager now; make your calling sure.
If you do these things, you will fall no more.
You’ll be welcomed richly by Christ our Lord
And gain His kingdom, through His promises.
