Thee we have our pro­mise giv­en,

Be Thou hence our strength and guide.

Lead us through life’s dark­some maz­es,
Lift us o’er the thor­ny plac­es,
Shield us from the parch­ing sun.
Grant us strength when faint and wea­ry,
Comfort when the way is drea­ry,
Guard us till our race is won.

May we fol­low Thee in meek­ness,
Help us ov­er­come our weak­ness,
Melt our heart with grace and love.
Let Thy name be burned with­in us,
So that naught from Thee shall win us
Till Thou call­est us above.
